We carpooled down to Mary’s house to take her some food and friendship and to even knit a little. A very little, in my case. I think I knit a couple of rows on my blue vest. What I did a lot of was to eat beautiful, tasty cherries picked from Mary’s cherry trees. Yum. I would show you a photo of the huge bowl of cherries but my setting was on VIDEO and I’m too cheap to buy the video capabilities for this blog site. Cheap Marsha! You’ll just have to imagine the GIANT bowl of gorgeous RED, GLISTENING cherries. There…got it?
I also didn’t get a photo of Marylane’s finished felted slippers. Ditto above paragraph. CHEAP MARSHA!! You’ll just have to imagine brown felted slippers with black trim on the ends of Marylane’s svelte legs. Hmmm. Got it? I guess I’m a little distracted because in 9 days Marylane and I are going to Scotland. Yay! I’ll miss three weeks of knitting. BOO! But I plan to buy some awesome yarn for a lace stole.
Julie was a busy bee since we last met. She is knitting a top-down baby sweater out of Paton’s wool DECOR yarn. It is pretty…and pretty big for a newborn, but she told us that this baby was a 10 pounder when he was born. Ouch.
Julie is also knitting a felted bowl for her sister’s birthday – uh, that was last week – but Julie smiled and said that her sister was used to her tardiness with gifts. We gotcha, Jules. The bowl is knitted from a bulky weight wool that is going to be stunning. Can’t wait to see it.
Speaking of sisters, our two favorites sisters were there. Marylane brought her perennial scarf that keeps getting longer and longer and longer. Looks like Joan is wondering just how much longer it will really be. Marylane is going to donate it to the basket for the Friends of the Library Book Sale that takes place just after we return from Scotland in late September.
Mary is doing very well. I think she’s getting a little stir crazy, but she is being a good patient and using her walker faithfully…I think.
Her forced inactivity has even encouraged her to knit some on her sock. Not a lot, but enough to surprise even Mary.
Deb is still working on Glen’s top-down Henley. Now that school has started again (groan) she won’t have as much time. Ha. As if any of us really have time to knit in the summer! I know I haven’t spent much time knitting while the sun is shining and I have hikes to hike and air in my bicycle tires. Anyway, there’s always that long flight to and from Scotland to fill up. Oh, did I mention that I’m going to Scotland in about a week?
We missed Leslie, Michele, Carol and Francy and look forward to seeing them soon.
We will meet at Linda’s house next week so that Mary can come (she doesn’t do a lot of steps yet). It’s the first official week of school, so our teacher types will be glad for a little knitting diversion. Until then, enjoy the last days of August and keep those needles blazing!
