The Castoffs met at my house on a typical spring day – cloudy, sunny, rainy, windy – take your choice. We were excited to see Marylane back with us and to show her the surprise that we have been working on for several weeks.
I served fruit salad and Eli had made yummy spice cupcakes with caramel icing. Marylane brought wine that she has a stockpile of at her house from Walker’s memorial. Thanks, ML!
Marylane and Joan wore their matching ‘wine yokes’ that hold a LOT of wine. That’ll set you up for a party, eh girls?
We laid out Marylane’s wrap on the table and she wandered over wondering what it was and who had made all the squares. When we told her that it was for her, she got a little teary – so did the rest of us, Marylane. We love you!
It’s going to be a beautiful, warm wrap for Marylane to snuggle into when the weather gets cool again. Could be cool all summer!
We have yarn left over for a project for Dick, Marylane’s husband. Such possibilities.
Deb wore her new vest and it is awesome! It blocked out to just the right size and she chose great buttons to sew on the front. Oh, Deb, you did a fabulous job!
Carol liked knitting her fingerless mitts so much that she started on a third one. A third one? She decided to make a second pair for another gift. The yarn is so soft – I know that both pair will be a cherished gift.
Carol has also started a project for her sweetheart. Aaah, love! Golf club covers that I know he’ll like. A gift from the heart to the golf course.
Michele is zipping right along with Erica’s sweater. I love the pattern design. I think this is on the upper chest.
Joan is knitting (not purling) a scarf to go with her Montana State hat. It’s going to look great. Now, Joan, if you learned how to purl, you could make a hat just like this one. Or not.
Linda was torn between two colors of yarn last week for her great-niece’s sweater. Well, she decided on an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT yarn, but it looks great. The yarn has a little sparkle to it – just right for an uptown, Chicago kind of baby.
Julie got a hint of an idea for her mother when she was on her visit in Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago. Her mom likes to wear socks when she sleeps, so Julie is knitting her some very soft, silky socks. Very considerate and very pretty.
I’m still working on my Kindle cover, in between working on my Henley sweater! It’s sparkly yarn too – sock yarn from Berrocco.
Next week we’ll meet at Leslie’s house. I am going to a retirement party, so I’ll miss all the fun! Boo. But I’ll be there in spirit. Have fun and keep those needles blazing!
