We all came to Marsha’s house in the snow and cold and had a great time. We always seem to have a great time, though, don’t we? Francy brought treats – yum! – blondies and crunchy mix and wine, oh my! Thank you, Francy!
Leslie is working on her shrug – I think she did her obligatory one row at our meeting – and it’s coming along beautifully. At this point, however, it can double as a veil. She always brings a mysterious note to the Castoffs. That’s our Leslie.
Michele is also working on her shrug – same pattern as Leslie – but it’s amazing what a difference yarn makes. Michele’s yarn has a ‘halo’ effect due to its fuzziness. Sorry about the term, but I don’t know how to explain it any easier. The pattern really pops out on Leslie’s with more distinction and contrast. Both are going to be beautiful. Michele didn’t bring her shrug – too hard to keep track of her pattern with all the confusion around her – so she brought her other sweater that she’s knitting.
I finished my gray vest – Yay! – but I wasn’t sure that I liked the way it fit. I modeled it for my knitting friends and they liked it, they really, really liked it! Sorry, for a moment I was channeling Sally Fields. Anyway, it has a dropped shoulder and is fuller in the bosom than I’m used to, but it fits nicely around the waist. So…I’m gonna keep it.
Linda has been a felting fool this week. And I say that with love, Linda. She brought over one of her felted slippers and I apologize in advance for the fuzzy photo. The slipper was adorable and really heavy because it was still full of water from the felting.
Linda also brought a purse that she felted. She had made a one like this earlier in the year. I love this pattern and I love the confetti yarn embellishments on the top of the purse. Pretty – and pretty heavy, because IT was still wet, too.
Deb is almost finished with the back of her vest. It’s lacy and pretty and we can’t wait to see it finished. Neither can Deb. She’s looking forward to knitting the sides – less to knit, less to rip out if she makes a boo-boo.
Mary had had a hard day at work. Don’t worry, Mary, next year you’ll be retired and having nothing but easy days lolling around the house or kayaking down south. In the meantime, however, she came in and asked for some wine…
Chug-a-lug. Mary remembered to wear her knitting-sister bracelet that Marylane made all of us for Christmas. She MADE me take a photo of it to show Marylane. Okey dokey.
Mary was using some leftover yarn to knit and felt a purse for her daughter, Larissa. This purse is just like the one that Mary made for herself last year. Here are both purses – one in progress and one well-used.
Carol brought her shrug – we are swimming in shrugs lately – which I thought was a sweater. Oops. I still love this yarn and I love the shrug pattern. The yarn that she’s using is a chunky acrylic – we were all surprised that it was a synthetic – that is washable. I want some of this yarn! Just what I need, another project before I finish the ones I’m still working on. But I LOVE this yarn and the way it stripes.
Francy brought her cable hoodie that she’s knitting for her daughter. This is the second of this sweater that she has made and it’s turning out just as pretty as the first one. In the corner is a photo of her granddaughter with the sweater that Francy made for her – precious!
Our Julie joined us and is working on Brian’s top-down Henley. I love this pattern. It’s from Knitting Pure and Simple and is easy-peasy. Knit, knit, knit.
We missed Roxanne who is in Helena this week, and Marylane who was at the movies with her son, Walker. They went to see James Franco in 127 Hours. Yikes. Always take a Swiss Army knife when you go rock-climbing. Or a gun.
Next week we’ll meet at Michele’s house. Until then, stay warm and enjoy the snow. I’m sure there’ll be a lot to enjoy! Take those blazing needles with you when you go out – they’ll keep you warm.
