Gap post to catch up, November 20, 2009

For the past three weeks, I’ve been AWOL from knitting, waaaaah!!  My mom got very sick and then passed away.  My family traveled to Tennessee to bury her in her home turf.  It was a sad time.  My knitting buddies have been so wonderful.  Just before I left for Tennessee, five of them came over, scooped me up and took me on a great hike that helped me clear my head for the week ahead.  Thank you for giving me that gift, friends.  Their greatest gift has been their support and love and I cannot express the gratitude I feel for them and their presence in my life.

I thought that I’d post some photos of the in-between meetings that I didn’t have a chance to post, some of which show works-in-progress that have now been completed.  These gals don’t let grass grow under their feet…or needles.  If I blink, they are on to another project!

Leslie has been knitting, knitting, knitting.  Here are a couple of projects that she knitted for Grace, her granddaughter.

Darling Grace with her legwarmers...they fit!

Mary took some photos of a meeting at Michele’s house one week while I was gone and I’m sorry I couldn’t be there.  It looked like everyone was way too serious and intent on their knitting.   The last time I was at knitting, Mary was working on a scarf for her daughter-in-law:

Hey, no holes!

Mary has used this pattern once before, just when she was learning to knit and, ahem…it didn’t turn out quite like this one.  She has become quite a fine knitter!  Kudos, Mary.  At the meeting at Michele’s house, she was quite intent on something that I’m going to guess is a sock…or a headband.  I’ll have to clarify that next week.  I’m pretty sure it’s not a neckwarmer for the decoy duck that’s posing by her teacup.

Duck neckwarmer?

Julie and Michele looked pretty serious too.  Geez, it’s a good thing I’m back to liven up the joint!

Way too serious!

They were discussing a pretty top-down cardie that Julie was making for someone, not herself.  Come on, Jules, don’t be so unselfish!  Ahh, she can’t help it!

I love the seed stitch border down the front.

Well, I’m sure they had fun without the rest of us, but it will be GREAT when we’re all together next week at Marylane’s house.  See you then!
